HOLE 1
The first hole is a great opening par 5 that plays from 427 to 477 yards. Even though the fairway is seeming to be wide, it can be a difficult fairway to hit. Only the long hitters can get home in two, so most players try to setup their third shots to a large two-tier green that slopes from back to front. Get the ball on the right tier and you may be walking off the green with a birdie.

HOLE 3
Number 3 is one of the most difficult holes here at Grants Pass, not due to its length (302-368 yards) but do to the precision required to keep you out of trouble. The tree line fairway on the right and OB down the left-hand side make the drive all about accuracy and not distance. The second shot on number 3 requires accuracy, with water on the right and a bunker protecting the front this green this green can be tough to hit. A 4 is a great score here, sometimes even a bogey feels like a win.

HOLE 4
Number 4 is the second par 5 on the front 9 ranging from 442- 538 yards. With yet another daunting tee shot this hole has high risk – high reward implications. Only the longest hitters can reach the green in two, with a pond the stretches down the right side and all the way up to the front of the green you better favor the left side and take enough club to make sure your ball stays dry. The approach shot requires a lofty shot into this green, anything short will be rejected and will roll down the hill.

HOLE 5
Number 5 is the second longest par 3 at Grants Pass, ranges from 122-197 yards. With a similar front as #4 you better take enough club to get onto the green. Any shot short requires a great shot off a tight lie to a tough green. Beware of the OB down the left side of the entire hole. A three here is a great score with a but you’re not alone if you walk out with a bogey.

Number 6 starts a stretch of 7 par 4’s in a row. With number 6 only ranging from 269-366 yards this dogleg right par 4 has plenty of trouble to find. With OB all the way down the left side and Allen Creek on the right, this drive must find the fairway. A long iron or 3 wood off the tee will set up an approach shot from inside of 150 yards. This is a great hole to get a stroke back. Hit the green and make a putt.

HOLE 7
Number 7, the Island hole is a great golf hole. The longer hitters tee off from an island tee box with OB and houses on the left and a penalty area down the right side. This short par four plays 277-372 yards and requires some attention off the tee. On the approach you want to stay beneath the hole while evading the two bunkers that frame the front of the green. A putt from above the hole on this slippery green can make those 3 putt nightmares a reality.

HOLE 8
Number 8, very similar to number 7 requires a lot of awareness off the tee box. With houses close to the left side of fairway the miss on this hole is to the right. If you happen to find this fairway kudos to you. This approach shot to another green bordered by bunkers is a lot easier from the fairway than the forest. This green sneakily runs from back to front, knock it below the hole for an easy putt!

HOLE 9
Number 9 is arguably the hardest hole at Grants Pass Golf Club, a great way to finish off the front 9. Being the longest par 4 ranging from 351-426 yards this Tee shot requires distance and accuracy off the tee. With OB down the right edge of the fairway and a pond that’s reachable for the longer hitters on the left, the fairway is your only option. With a long approach shot to a two-tier green that slopes from back to front anywhere up by the green after your second shot is great. If the pin is in the front its your lucky day, a back pin adds more difficulty to this already tough hole.

HOLE 10
Number 10 is one of the shortest of the par 4’s at Grants Pass Golf Club, playing 247-326 yards. Hitting the tee shot to a hundred yards out to the left side of the fairway gives you the best opportunity to start the back 9 with a good score. The approach shot is to an elevated green that plays 12-15 more yards than the actual yardage. Make sure to take enough club to get the ball on the putting surface, any shot short has a chance to roll 15 yards down the hill.

Hole 11 is a dogleg right with OB left and trees down the right side. A good drive will get you over the hill and a great angle for the 2

shot. If you’re going to favor a side of the fairway I would favor the left, it will give you an optimal angle around the trees and away from the pond on the front right side of the green. One of the original greens here at Grants Pass, this green has some hidden slopes, keep the approach shot below the hole.

HOLE 12
Number 12 looks simple from a far but this uphill par 4 is anything but that. The last Par 4 of our Par 4 stretch has a broad fairway can easily be hit but leaves you with undulated lie in the fairway. The approach to this green requires a lot of accuracy, you’d rather be short than left or right. Left puts you in the bunker and rights puts you on a hill that almost a guarantees you 3 more strokes. Try and get this ball to the middle of the green and you’ll have a chance to make birdie. Par is a great score here.

This hole has OB down the right side for the entirety of the hole, off the tee be aware that a straight ball or a shot turning right will run out of fairway fast. Working the shot from right to left will give you a great look for the second shot. The second shot is down a narrow tree lined fairway but is reachable in two for the longer hitters. Number 16 is a difficult par 4 from the moment you tee off till the ball finds the bottom of the cup. Playing 302-404 yards try and keep your ball down the right side of the fairway this will give you an opportunity to reach the green in 2. A Drive too far right or too far left will put you behind the trees and require a punch out into the fairway. This two-tier green slopes back to front, finding the right level will save you a stroke or two!
